And we’re off today to another gorgeous location on the sea with Tia’s guest post about Santorini.
This is a place that’s high up on my travel list and I hopefully
will make it there sooner rather than later!
Tia has such a cool story and background and has lived and traveled to so many different places… she’s also a loyal reader of True Colours and has been reading and commenting for a long time and I’m so grateful for that!
So enjoy this dreamy mental trip through Greece… I know I am!
Hi True Colours readers! I’m Tia from The Travelling Gypsy. While Casey is away jet setting, I’m here to write about one of my favorite places in the world, Santorini. Santorini is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea, and although many people haven’t heard of it by name, they can easily recognize its caldera and iconic white architecture. I’m lucky to say that my family is from this beautiful place, and so I’ve visited more times than I can count!
Although Santorini is one of the most touristic islands in Greece, its natural beauty still astonishes me. The clean white homes and small churches in the towns of Fira and Oia sit high on a cliff caused by the nearby active volcano – visiting these two towns is a must of a lifetime for breathtaking views! The towns are full of cafes and restaurants, unique boutique shops, and nightlife.
Other things to do when you visit? Sunbathe at the black sand beaches; Red Beach, stained from the volcano, is my favorite. Ride a donkey or take a cable car down the cliff to the old port. Walk the promenade of Kamari village. Partake in wine tasting at the world famous winery, Santo Wines. For active travelers, take a day trip to the volcano where you can hike to the top and swim in the hot springs. And for those who simply want to relax? Sit back and watch the sunset with a loved one!
Due to a recent change in plans, I may be living in this beautiful place this summer!
Stop by my blog and stay tuned. 🙂
Thanks for having me, Casey!
