Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria
801 N St Asaph St, Alexandria, VA 22314
At the end of our week in DC, we spent a night out in Virginia for a family wedding and then had one night back near Raegan Airport before flying home to Portland. We’ve stayed in Alexandria before and it’s close to the airport as well as DC, plus you save quite a bit on price compared to downtown DC. We opted to stay in this area and get a larger room for our last night and the price was about half of what the DC hotels were charging for a similar room so it was worth it on that front!
LOVE
Location – If you want to be close to Raegan Airport, yet still close to DC, this is the perfect location. Alexandria has a lot of charm within itself too so if you’ve never explored the area, it’s well worth exploring on its own.
Parking – The hotel has a large underground parking garage that was easy to self-park and find a spot. They do charge you for parking but it’s at a lower rate than you’d pay in DC hotels.
Large Room for the Price – We thought Nick’s brother might be staying with us on this last night, so we got a suite with a pull out bed. He ended up not staying with us, but it was nice to have the larger room that was essentially a one-bedroom suite. The price for this room versus what I was looking at in DC proper was literally half the cost… so win, win.
DIDN’T LOVE
No Window View – Our windows were taped over and we weren’t sure why, but I’m assuming work was going on on the outside of the building. It was a little disconcerting having no access to windows or view and while I’m sure it was short term, seemed a little weird.
NOTES TO KEEP IN MIND
The hotel is close to the River. The hotel is only a few blocks from the River and it’s really nice to walk down there and take a stroll along the water, so take advantage of that!
Explore Alexandria. Alexandria is well worth a visit in itself and this historic area has so much to offer!
