This past year was a really different year for us in terms of our travels and while we actually traveled a lot less than in previous years, we ended up making it work. We had a number of things affect our travel this year like buying a house and renovating it (which meant our travel budget was greatly reduced as well as our time) and family illnesses that saw us changing travel plans and canceling trips to be with family. We only traveled abroad once this year to Europe in the Summer and spent much of our travel budget and time exploring places closer to home in the Pacific Northwest this year. All in all, this wasn’t my favorite travel year ever but we did get to see some amazing places (and some great surprise destinations as well that came about suddenly) and explore a lot of the spots closer to home that I’ve wanted to for years! Because that’s the thing with travel… you don’t always have to go far to experience some amazing places or know when opportunities will present themselves to see an amazing place. Those lessons were some that held great meaning this year for us. And while I’m hoping to adjust some things in our life next year to travel more, 2019 was a year that brought with it good and bad in terms of travel and how much we were able to see.
