Here we are, almost September already! I can’t really say I’m sad to see the Summer on its way out as the Fall is my favorite time of the year and I’m ready for cool weather and the changing leaves. We’ve had a very busy Summer and with so much going on, I’m really looking forward to the next few months with time at home but also some trips we have planned on the horizon that I’ve been so excited for. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately!
Life + Everyday
Life has been pretty crazy for us this Spring and Summer with lots of family stuff going on and we’ve been keeping very busy with everything happening. Work has also been super busy for Nick and my macron bakery has been keeping me going all Summer with lots of orders. Overall, life has been a little crazy.
Travel
After a Summer of trips to Southern Oregon, France and Hawaii, the travel we have planned for the next few months actually has me really excited! In an effort to save some money (mostly for home renovation projects) and to not have to fly so far and spend so much time actually traveling, we’re planning on exploring more of the US in the next six months and I’m actually so excited to see a bunch of places that we’ve had on our list forever. We’re heading back to New England, specifically Vermont, in October and I am so excited for this trip. We visited a few years ago during the Autumn and it was one of my favorite trips to date and I fell hard for that part of the US so I’m really excited to celebrate my birthday there this year.
We also have a family trip with Nick’s family in Eastern Oregon coming up and I’m excited to see some of the places in that part of my home state I’ve had on my list forever! And for the Thanksgiving weekend, when our flights to Spain were canceled and they were going to re-route us through like 3 cities to get there, we decided to cancel the trip and stay closer to home, so we’ll be driving up to Vancouver, BC for a few days. We’ve been to Vancouver a handful of times, but never really stayed downtown and explored different parts of the city so that should be fun. We’re also going to try to make it up to Whistler while we’re there too!
And finally, we’ve got a trip to Las Vegas booked for just after the 1st of the year to do a foodie weekend there that we’ve wanted to do forever! There are so many amazing restaurants there that we’re spending a weekend just tasting them all and that should be super fun. So all in all, a busy next few months of travel!
House Renovation
We’ll have been in our house 1 year this week and it’s amazing to look back at all the projects we’ve done to renovate it since last year! Lately we’ve been knee-deep in a kitchen remodel and it will probably be done in the next month, at which time I’ll share the renovation with you guys here on LOM. New countertops went in this past week and next up is filling in remaining tile backsplash, hanging floating shelves, redoing the floor and a few final touch ups. We’re doing a lot of the work ourselves and it’s going a little slower than I’d like, mainly due to our crazy schedule as of late, but it’s coming along! I’m posting updates on my personal Instagram (cmart1015) if you want to follow along and I’ve got a highlight reel there to see the process.
We also re-carpeted the room we use as our office and have been busy on a few other smaller projects like painting our basement walls and updating that space. In short, this Summer has been full of house projects but I’m glad to say that we’re starting to wind down on the updates we’ll make to this house as our renovation list is narrowing down. I’m looking forward to it slowing a bit in the Fall and Winter and just enjoying all the progress we’ve made!
