Northern Europe + Paris : Moments to Remember

After an amazing journey through four countries, I can’t help but look back on our past couple weeks through Europe with fond memories for so many incredible moments. I’ll be starting soon with our trip review posts including day by day posts of our travels as well as hotel reviews, travel tips and travel style posts and everything else, but today I’m reflecting on the moments I always want to remember from our most recent travels through Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Belgium and Paris.

After a very hectic journey getting to Copenhagen, we spent our first evening in the city wandering the streets, taking in the canals and watching the orange sun light up the sky as it set. That first evening wandering the city and taking in the twilight hours were so peaceful and lovely, it made it seem that all the travel issues from earlier in the day seemed to fade away into the sunset.

Amsterdam is a magical city, the canals, the bikes everywhere, the cobblestone streets and tiny alleyways, but seeing the first of the Fall leaves changing colors along the water in the Nine Streets area of the city was pure magic. I can only imagine how magical this area is when the trees are all bright oranges and reds.

Bruges is straight out of a storybook, with canals and brick castles, storybook facades and weeping trees. Even though our visit was cold and very rainy, we enjoyed wandering the little streets of Bruges and taking in all the fairytale-esque scenes of this little Belgian town.

The couple days before we arrived in Paris were pretty hectic, catching trains and seeing a lot of different sites, so when we arrived in Paris, it felt like we were coming home. We came up from the metro and looked around and Nick and I both let out a sigh of relief. Our arrival in Paris signaled a few days of rest in one of our favorite cities in the world.

Our final night in Paris, we ventured to the top of the Tour Montparnasse for views all over the city. It was our first time up there and I would highly recommend it for incredible views of Paris, especially as the sun set on our last night in the French capital. We stayed just long enough to see the Eiffel Tower light up, with its lights dancing over the magical city and watched the sun set behind Paris one last time before we headed home. It was a magical feeling, seeing Paris from above, lighting up against a twilight sky.
