About a week ago, Portland finally made car services like Uber legal. I know, I know, we’re way behind on this and I’m not entirely sure what the hold up was, but the good news is that it’s here! Nick and I love using Uber and use it a lot when traveling, with a great app on your smartphone that basically allows you to customize what kind of ride you need, telling you exactly how much it will be and who your driver will be, it really can’t be beat. Plus, they often run promos that get you free rides or discounts, and so in true Uber fashion, I’m teaming up with them today to bring you the perfect Portland city guide for your next trip to my lovely city and along with that, an Uber Promo Code for your own discounted ride!
On that same note, I’m also launching the first of my Travel Guides today in combination with this post and I’m hoping to add more guides in the next few weeks as well. You can find all Travel Guides under the “Shop Tab” at the top of the page or by clicking here:
Land of Marvels Travel Guides
In the spirit of anyone planning a trip to my beautiful home city of Portland in the coming months, I’ve got the perfect guide set up for you. Grab your Uber code above and bring it with you to explore the lovely Rose City this Summer! I’ve included all my favorites spots in a downloadable, printable, foldable guide on my Travel Guides page but here is a preview and some of my all time favorite spots in my home city!
STAY
The Sentinel – This newly renovated property downtown is the perfect location to explore the city!
Marriott Residence Inn, Pearl District – The only hotel truly in the beautiful Pearl District, this new hotel has unrivaled views of the area and a chic new design.
DO
NW 23rd Avenue + NW 21st Avenue – Strolling along these famous Portland streets is one of my favorite things to do! I live close by, so I might be a bit partial, but it’s a wonderful afternoon of wandering through the shops and restaurants and leafy neighborhoods.
Pearl District – One of the nicest areas in all of Portland, this renovated neighborhood full of old warehouses that are no chic lofts, houses many of Portland’s best restaurants!
Oregon Coast – Only an hour from downtown Portland, the Oregon Coast boasts one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.
EAT
Ataula – A truly authentic Spanish restaurant just off NW 23rd, this is one of our favorite spots in the city!
Oven and Shaker – When I’m craving pizza, this is the place to go. Featuring a handful of artisan pizzas with local ingredients, this place take the cake… or I guess the pizza.
Andina – One of the best restaurants in the city, this Peruvian spot is not to be missed!
Isabel Pearl – My favorite breakfast spot in the city, their blackberry pancakes will change your life.

Glad to hear you all have Uber now too. It’s pretty amazing. Although I have to say I liked the Taxi drivers in Portland way better than the ones I’m used to, but maybe I just got lucky. You did forget one of my favorite things in Portland though, the coffee! Thanks for sharing.
Casey says
Yes! It’s been so long that they didn’t allow it, so nice to finally have it! And yes, the coffee… I guess I figure that you really can’t go wrong here with coffee, so anywhere you go, it will be good 🙂
