Last weekend we headed to Hawaii again (our third trip over this Summer alone) for work projects that were finishing up. Nick had a photography job there and I was seeing some of my projects completely finished which weren’t done on previous trips. We were a little “Hawaii-ed” out if you will after our two back to back trips in July and August, so this time around we decided to add an extra day and relax a bit more. We flew in Thursday night, worked Friday and then took Saturday pretty much off. It turned out to be a lovely lazy weekend in the islands with my parents, without having to run around crazy with work all day Saturday like our previous trips this Summer.
We didn’t even go to a beach or see the sunrise this time, we really just needed a day to rest so we laid around my parents house, took naps and had nice meals with beautiful views. It also happened to be super stormy while there and Oahu was having flash floods from the heavy rain, so having a lazy weekend was perfect this time around as it would have been miserable at the beach anyway. I also got the change to meet up with Kristin from No Destinations finally, which was so fun! All in all, our last weekend in Hawaii for the year (probably) was lazy and not filled too fill so that we could enjoy the time with my parents and our time in the Islands!

So glad you guys were able to take a reset day! The stormy weather just begs for it – it’s the only kind of weather where I don’t feel guilty for not being outside enjoying paradise! 😀

Yea the stormy weather was perfect for this sort of weekend!

Hawaii’d out. Didn’t go to the beach. These are foreign words and phrases to me. I will consider myself extremely lucky and blessed if we are able to save up enough to go to Hawaii. I don’t think I could ever get “Hawaii’d out”, I would be in heaven! Different strokes for different folks. We all like different things. I feel the most alive when I am on the shore and breathing in the salty air. Not that I don’t want to take naps – I would just take one the beach.
Good for you for doing what you want though. Even if I think it’s crazy, 😉

Haha! Well also consider that when we go it’s usually over Friday night, working all day Saturday and leaving Sunday morning… so they are usually super hectic and full weekends! 🙂 Plus I’m not a big beach person, so as you said “different stokes…”

LOL – so true. I have friends who really don’t like the beach much at all. I’m always like, how are we friends? 😉 They think I’m crazy for not liking camping in the woods, which, I definitely do not. To each their own! Now if you ever need an assistant to go work in Hawaii for you, let me know.
This is funny because I really don’t know what you do. I saw the link to this blog in an email and clicked on it thinking it would be about relaxing on the beach…LOLOL!!! 😀

Haha! Love it! Yea I’m there like 5-6 times a year for work (and I’ve lived there before) so it’s not really a vacation for me! 🙂

Sometimes you just need to relax and take a break! Some of my favorite memories are just chilling in my hotel room 🙂

Totally!!!!

Okay – so you’ve made us want to book a weekend in Hawaii too! I wonder if it is possible from London? 😉
Thanks for sharing such an awesome post – we definitely have to go now!

You totally could do a long weekend in Hawaii from London! I’d suggest flying direct London to any West Coast city, like Seattle or LA, and then direct from there is only about 5 hours to Hawaii!
