On our last day in New England, we woke in our beautiful Taconic Hotel in Manchester, Vermont. We had originally planned to drive a bit North to see Grafton, Vermont and then head back to Boston but because it had snowed overnight, we didn’t want to have to drive through the high mountain pass through the Green Mountains back to Grafton. On a whim, we switched up our plan and headed South into Northern Massachusetts driving MA Route 2 all the way back to Boston. And while we were a little unsure of what we would find on our way back, we were blown away by how beautiful this drive was. From hilly roads filled with color and white steepled churches with snow on the ground to huge river gorges surrounded by amazing Fall color, this route was beyond beautiful! One thing we learned on this trip: always choose driving the scenic route in New England!

It’s so pretty there in the fall. I’m not always a fan of the fall weather but I love the beautiful folliage.

This looks like the drive from North Adams, Massachusetts to Boston on the Mohawk trail, a very beautiful drive, have done it many times. Another great drive is north of Boston on A1 along the coast to Newburyport. Nice blog enjoy the scenery.

I think it was that route! I can’t quite remember but it was gorgeous! And I live out West in Portland so yes, there are some beautiful drives out here too!
