When we visited Rome the first time, we had the intention to visit the ancient neighborhood of Trastevere but never made it. This time around, it was at the top of my list to see. Since this most recent trip we left most of our time in Rome just to wander and Rome’s best neighborhood Trastevere was the perfect spot to do that. We actually wandered through this neighborhood multiple times and since it was just a 10 minute walk over the Tiber River from our hotel, it was easy to get to and oh so charming. With ancient buildings, tiny pedestrian only alleyways and amazing food, Trastevere is easily (in my opinion) Rome’s best neighborhood to explore and wander!

This was definitely our favorite part of Rome too. We told ourselves that whenever we go back to Rome, we want to stay in Trastevere. Such a lovely place.

Totally! Actually that’s why I loved our hotel this trip so much, because it was right over the river from Trastevere.

I’ll be sure to make Trastevere a priority whenever we make it to Rome!

I love this area, so much quieter and calmer then right in the center of Rome. I, of course, made the mistake of going on a Monday so a couple of places I wanted to visit were closed but it was beautiful and charming either way.

Totally! It’s such a cool neighborhood and so genuine compared to a lot of the rest of the city!

Oh I LOVE Trastevere! When I studied abroad I was always incredibly jealous of the students who chose to stay there. If I could do it all over again, I’d stay there in a heartbeat. Love it! Any other neighborhoods in Rome that you particularly like?

Isn’t it amazing!?!?! Such an authentic area of Rome. We stayed right across the river from Trastevere in the Rione and Ponte neighborhood which we really liked as well and we loved the Monti neighborhood near the colosseum!
