I’ve consolidated the places I would recommend from my trips to Iceland here with everything I loved, didn’t love and would suggest.
Reykjavik
Iceland Parliament Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

Loved the location, beautiful finishes and design, large rooms, and great lobby
Didn’t love anything! We loved our stay here.
Know that this hotel is one of the best we’ve stayed at in Reykjavik but it is busy, so book early!
The Reykjavik EDITION
Loved the location, valet parking, and brand new
Didn’t love the cost – though we mainly chose it for the location and easy parking which some other hotels don’t have but it’s definitely a much higher price point
Know that this hotel is great but I’m not sure if it’s worth so much more in price than the other hotels near by – though the valet parking was nice!
Reykjavik Saga

Loved the good design, location, brand new build, modern design, efficient rooms
Didn’t love the service
Know that this hotel is brand new as of 2023 so some of the bus drivers don’t know it yet
Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel

Loved the location, room size, comfortable bed, early check-in
Didn’t love that the hotel is a little noisy and not cleaned the very best it could be
Know that the location of this hotel is great and there are lots of restaurants nearby
Golden Circle
Ion Adventure Hotel

Loved the location in the Golden Circle about an hour outside of Reykjavik, great food at hotel restaurant, and good design throughout
Didn’t love the price tag
Know that this hotel is out in the Golden Circle, about an hour to two hours (depending on weather) from the city center
South + Eastern Iceland
Umi Hotel

Loved the modern design, secluded location, great restaurant, easy access for Northern Lights

Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

Loved the modern design, location, large room, and hot tubs
Didn’t love anything! We loved our stay here.
Know to utilize the free breakfast here and this hotel is great to explore the Eastern areas of Iceland like the Glacier Lagoons
Hótel Vík í Mýrdal

Loved the good design, location, and easy parking

Know that this hotel is a great stopping point when driving East and is very easy on and off the highway
Northern Iceland
Akureyri – Berjaya Iceland Hotels
Þingvallastræti 23, 600 Akureyri, Iceland
Loved the location, space for luggage, easy parking, and free breakfast
Didn’t love that the room was a little dorm-like
Know that there might not be a person at reception all night and we headed out to explore under the Northern Lights and doors were locked, so just be aware of how to get out and back in again
